1. Right-click > Copy
this logo:
2. In Illustrator, press CTRL+V to Paste.
3. In the Layers (F7),
double-click and name it "Original", Lock it,
and Dim it to 25%. Hit Ok
4. Create a New Layer, name it "Trace"
5. Click on the Pen Tool. Make sure you have a Fill and No Stroke.
6. Begin tracing the outer portion of the logo:
7. Next, trace the inner black portion of the logo:
8. The Eyes, Nose, and Mouth:
9. The Whiskers:
10. Unlock the Original layer and use the Selection Tool to move the logo side-by-side to the Trace. Open the Swatches. Use the Eyedropper to Shift-Click the original colors. Then drag and drop into the Swatches. (Detailed instructions are in the Patriots Logo lesson).
11.Use the Selection Tool and fill in each piece the correct Fill/Stroke Colors. I will demonstrate in class how to use the Scissors Tool to cut the right Whiskers so that you can split the colors:
