Photoshop Setup

Use these settings to create the poster file:

1. File > New ( or CTRL+N)
2. Preset: U.S. Paper
3. Size: Letter
4. Resolution: 150 pixels/inch (your preset will now say 'custom')
5. Press OK

Note: Notice your document is in Portrait Orientation (vertical). If you want it to be Landscape Orientation (horizontal),
then do the following: Image > Rotate Canvas > 90 CW.

Grading Criteria

Your grade will be based on the following criteria:

• Usage of Photoshop techniques taught so far
• Maintaining an aesthetic design discipline
  • holding the Shift key when resizing
  • neatness of layer masking
  • acquiring quality images
  • no overusing filters, colors, fonts
• Usage of basic design fundamentals
  • proper contrast, alignment, proximity, type contrast, etc
• Ability to communicate the theme through usage of images and text
• Ability to elicit an emotional response by the viewer (the "wow" factor)
• Your poster must include type.

Tips/Suggestions:

• Apply the "The Design Process"
• Research. Look online or around your community for posters.
  Notice common trends and techniques used on the images and typography
• Minimalize and focus. Keep the amount of images to a minimum.
  Draw your viewers attention to a main focal point.

Project Submission
You will save the file as a .psd document. You do not have to print it. I will view it on the computer.

Late Projects
Don't even think about it. I don't take late projects...period.
