Music CD Disc Design

Overview:          
Your job is to design the CD cover, inside, back and disc for a real or fictional artist/group. Since this project has portfolio implications, choose a design that has a broad appeal and showcases your design capabilities rather than being ‘safe and obvious’.

You can download the template here (76kb Zipped). The files are 300 dpi files and include:

• CD_Cover_Front.psd  (file 1)
• CD_Cover _Inside.psd (file 2)
• CD_Disk.psd (file 3)
• CD_SpineAndBack.psd (file 4)

Project Submission:      
This project will be submitted as a multipage PDF file. You will use Acrobat Pro to assemble the single documents into multiple pages. I will demonstrate this very easy process in class.

 

Specifics:            

• This project is heavily based on design. So all the design principles mentioned in the Design Book for DMA103 should be strictly adhered to.
• Do start with a concept, idea or theme. Having a theme will help to ensure a cohesive design.
• No porn, bugs or horror. Save it for your own personal fetishes.
• Students who submit early preliminary designs for feedback often receive a much higher grade than those students who simply submit it the day it’s due. Approach this project as if it were a client job. Communication and feedback are key.
• Utilize any tutorials or techniques taught during the semester. This project is the perfect opportunity to flex your Photoshop skills.
